30 Lolita Blog Challenge-Day 5 & 6

10 items from your wishlist.

Hmmmm...Lets see...

1: Whatever this print winds up on. I have to have it. Zomg.

2: A good wig, dark brown or blond, but some natural color.

3:  well....can I say I don't really have any other ideas? Lame? Sure, but I like all kinds of outfits, prints et all and my taste changes with my mood.  Let's move on to Day 6 eh?

10 things you can’t live without in lolita.

1: Petticoats- you will be smashed to pieces by the die-hard's I hear. Plus, isn't the pouf what loli is about?

2: A well fitting ensemble. I don't need to cover that again right?...Right?

3: A Parasol. For Serious. Not only cute but protects your skin from cancer! Cancer is not Loli. (not to be confused with those who suffer from cancer, those Loli's are awesome).

4: A Cute bag. ...Of course I think this is a must have for any attire.

5: Makeup to solve what age or genetics hath wrought on thy face.

6:  Bloomers. I don't care if it's just your college track shorts, but if you're wearing a skirt that big and floofly you want bloomers.

7: Accessories. I love me some accessories. ESPECIALLY rings. I've been good so far and haven't bought any yet, but oh man. When the hubs and I get jobs, you bet your ruffly derriere I'm buying a ring or two.

8: Music- but that'll be a later post. I need music in my life for EVERYTHING anyway, so how would Loli be any different?

9: Stocking and knee high socks. I love them. love.

10: Support from loved ones. It's hard to go out and be different and if you've got support from those you love, it's worth 600 brand dresses.

2: Scones-I'm sure you didn't see that coming.

3: Tea sandwiches-or this one...

4: Fresh, hot out of the oven bread. nom nom nom.

5: Salads- They are Tres Bon! And good for you.

6: Mashed potatoes (form real potatoes, not the box kind. With Gravy

7:  Ham and Cheese Sandwiches.

8: Tomatoes and Mozzarella

30 Lolita Blog Challenge-Day 3

10 things you hate in Lolita.

1: The pretentious, self absorbed, entitlement issued, stuck up brats that take joy in putting others down. Grow up. Act your bloody age.

2: People who don't tailor clothing for their body type. If it's too big, take it in. If it's too small either take it out or commission something in your size. The rules apply in real life clothing so why in the heck would you think it doesn't in Lolita? You'll look better if things are tailored to your body type. Suck it up and deal. Find yourself a good tailor, that's what I did.

3: The name. It just attracts all kinds of creepy disgusting people who aren't looking at it from a fashion POV.

4: The lack of availability of the clothing. I'm lucky in that BtSSB and AP have stores in my state but I really want to get into a few other stores and ordering overseas makes em nervous.

5: Lack of proper hygiene and grooming. You got to all this trouble and expense of putting together an outfit and then you don't wash your face, brush your hair, and for some, put on makeup? Girl! I have bags under my eyes, you bet your arse I'm putting on cover up and powder. If you want to be successful in life, you have to present yourself in the best light. It sucks that our society requires it but there you have it. Not taking care of yourself detracts from your gorgeous coords.

6:  Yeah I'll say it, the prices. Granted, you know that going in but man, I cringe buying a suit for the price of a Brand dress and it'll get me further in life than Lolita.

7: "Brando or Burando" Are you freaking kidding me? Learnz to grammarz and spel!! It's "Brand" and anything else makes whatever else you have to say sound less important or noteworthy or even worth reading in my eyes.

8: The Goth vs Sweet vs whatever. GTFO, you are all wearing a ridiculous outfit in the worlds eyes, you're ALL in the same boat and fashion style. Just because someone wears a darker shade than you or lighter doesn't make you any less freakish in the eyes of outsiders.

9: Driving a car in Loli. Frickin-A the petticoat is a paaaaaain!

10: People not strong enough emotionally to wear the fashion. If you put on an outfit that is guaranteed to make you stand out, OWN IT. Don't complain about how you were treated. I can see becoming tired of it but really, you know going into it you're going to get comments. Be nice to those who are positive or genuinely interested and to the ruse ones, either ignore them and let their comments roll  off your back or stand up for yourself. I've not had any negative comments but the people who know me know I speak my mind and will give as good as can be dished. Not to mention I've dressed in all kinds of crazy styles over the years. But I own them all.  The only time you'll ever see me say to someone insulting me, "Oh goodness me! You're so meeeeannnnnnnn!" will be the pre-curser to a very scathing remark (or 3) and a firm set down.

Thankfully, I've only had good experiences in Loli so far and am happy to keep it that way.

First Go at Lolita

First Lolita Tea Meetup
I went to my first Loli meetup on Sunday and we went to tea! I adore going to tea for any reason so I had a blast. I'd love any suggestions for improvement on my outfit.

So first up is my outfit, not sure how you'd classify this...classic sweet? Anyway:
OP: BtSSB
Parasol: Angelic Pretty
Necklace and Headband: For Love21 (forever21)
Socks: I don't even remember-some random target-like shop I'm sure.
Shoes: Target

And here's a back view

And finally, a picture of the Ladies at tea. I covered the little girl's face because A: Not my kid, B: Creepers on the net and C: I don't have her (awesome) mom's permission.

I really enjoyed myself and am looking forward to future meetups. Thanks for looking!

30 Lolita Blog Challenge-Day 2

1: I love the feminine aspect. The elegance and ladylike grace that stems from the fashion. I firmly believe that "A dress should be tight enough to show that you're a woman, but loose enough to show you're a lady".

2: The inspiration aspect of it for sure. I've so much material that would be great for skirts etc, I'm really looking forward to learning to sew garments as opposed to quilts. And the Goth and Loli Bible.

3: Lace, ribbons, bunnies, parasols.

4: Purses Especially the book ones. I LOVE purses. Love.

5: I like that it's different, but in a positive way reaction wise...Or maybe the people in my life are just used to my dressing weird. LOL

6: The people I've met thus far. You mean I can go to tea parties with lots of people with the same interests? Get out! No, really, get out and join me for tea! (too cheesy?)

7: Brand-While I'm not a sticklier or a "Brand Whore" I think there is something special in owning some piece, however small, from a favored brand house.

8: The wigs, though I don't own one yet. You mean to tell me I can get straight hair (mine is naturally curly), in a bob WITH Bangs that won't look stupid and in any color?!?! Sign me up.

9: The fact that it's a touch out of my comfort zone, fashion wise. I do like neutrals and classic pieces in real life (Think Ann Taylor Loft, Gap and Banana Republic) so adding pattern and colors is exciting for me.

10: The online community. it's great and full of information.

30 Lolita Blog Challenge-Day 1

1: My bubble is very small! Just starting out and I've done days of research (no, really, days. You can get a lot done over a holiday weekend). Epic, leaving the house at midnight for a 14 hour drive to san fran and back to visit the BtSSB and AP shops to sign up for a tea party and buy clothing with the hubby, is not uncommon. When I'm into something, I'm MOTIVATED!

2:I really like the lifestyle and wish I could get away with decorating my home accordingly. However, I have a US Marine for a husband, so there are only so many frills I'm allowed. -_^ Hopefully when I get my own craft room, I can go crazy and decorate to my hearts content.

3: I would say my style is more Classic with a touch of Sweet. Basically, I'll wear it if it doesn't look too costume-y. Though I have to say, I DO enjoy OTT Sweet, but I don't think I'd ever wear it. I love strawberries, bunnies, and cakes/desserts designs as well as solid colors.

4: I like brand for the quality. Being new to the fashion, I haven't tried the "off brand" yet, but if it's good quality then why not wear it? I'd say I'm in the middle of the who off/brand war. I think if you can afford it (or save up) and it would fit, get at least one brand main piece and supplement with cheaper things. In the "real world" I have a real Gucci and Coach bag, but also a few replicas (the joys of L.A.). I don't care what you wear really, as long as it fits your body well. Huge pet peeve of mine in and out of Lolita. If it's too big, tailor it, too small then tailor it or have something custom made.

5: This sounds lame, but man, I really hope I can make some good Loli friends. I've a ton of knitter friends and a BFF I love and adore for the rest of our lives, but they aren't even remotely into Lolita. I want to be able to geek out about the latest print to someone other than my poor husband who has been patient with my newest obsession. lol

6:This winter, I REALLY want a Loli over coat and want to go ice skating in Lolita with a bunch of friends. That would be the cat's pajamas. (dated reference FTW)

7: I'm planning on learning how to make clothing. I've got some great material that would rock for a goth loli look. Not that I really want to do goth loli that much. I was a goth in High School and am trying new things! But making new clothing would be awesome. And accessories.

8: Back to the lifestyle bit. I love going to tea, reading books,  reading Jane Austen, I knit, spin yarn, sew, quilt and embroider. I'm a housewife but I have to get a job now that the hubby is leaving the USMC. I love cooking, baking, my kitchen Aid mixer, salad, scones and pasta. I adore Anime and I don't think there's anything wrong with that.  I also do English Country Dancing (the dancing in Pride and Prejudice and Emma movies). So fun!

9: I wish there were more meetups closer to me on a regular basis. Fo realz. There is a regular one but it's 2+ hours away and theres no way I could justify that.

10: I'm Really looking forward to the BtSSB San Fran Tea Party-I hop we get more info on that newer black print with the bear, spellbook and cupcakes!

Baby the Stars Shine Bright Tea party in San Francisco

 Jul. 6th, 2011 | 10:00 pm

So BtSSB announced tickets for a tea party are going on sale tomorrow for a tea at the end of the month. I REALLY want to go badly. Do i make the 7 hour drive up north and risk not getting one of the 50 seats? I can't decide!!!!

Jul. 8th, 2011 | 11:34 pm

So I mentioned to my AWESOME AND AMAZING husband about the BtSSB Tea thing. He was all, "ok let's leave at midnight"....and we did. We drove 14 hours round trip to San Fran and back so I could get the Tea Party ticket! While there I saw my first Lolita in the wild and nearly squeed! Thankfully, I was in the car reading while I waited for the store to open so I didn't geek out on her! By the time we got in, I had myself under control and was able to ask a few questions with out sounding like a fan girl. :P  I was too shy to introduce myself but she'll be at the tea so maybe I'll try again then!

I did buy a one piece from BtSSB- It's a white, print strawberry dress with a heart neckline and the "blouse" part is white eyelet material. Love! There was a skirt I wanted (I think I like the skirts/blouse combo more) but hubby likes the dresses since, to him, they are a more accurate representation of Lolita. So it's fine, I got the dress to please him (because owning a BtSSB dress is SUCH a sacrifice right? LOL) and since he was footing the bill, why not? I love it -strawberries are one of "my things" so making him happy was a side total benefit. My next piece is a Skirt for sure.

We also went to Angelic Pretty-the girl there was SUPER nice! Very helpful too. I bought over the knee strawberry socks and a white strawberry print parasol because the hubby was like, "OMG TOO CUTE YOU MUST GET!" Win! I'll post pics (to my non-existent audience) once I figure out how photo editing and such works. :)

It was a long ass trip no doubt, and I don't think I'd be all crazy again, but I'm pretty lucky I live close enough to visit!

Lolita!

Oh Screw it. I'm going to just maintain my Lolita blog here instead of over at live journal. I like blogger MUCH better and posting was SUCH a pain picture wise. I'll keep the Lolita blog there for EGL and Daily Lolita but here's where the business end of things will be. :) I'll be moving posts over so you won't have missed anything! And now that I've typed a bunch (I just finished a blog challenge, my arm hurts) I'll be off. Going to move most things over now.

(Origonal post on LJ to follow)

Here's my back round into Lolita. I had picked up a G&L Bible at a bookstore about 3 years ago and fell in love instantly. I however, though I was too old (23) and so while keeping that one and a few others, never gave it much thought afterwards. I had more important things on my mind. Like my husband deploying with the USMC to Iraq.

Fast forward 3 years and my husband is safely out of the USMC and we went to Anime Expo this past weekend. I mentioned to him how much I adored the Lolita style and he thought it'd be adorable on me. "But it's so expensive!" His response was to get a little at a time and "But you'd look adorable! Do it!" How can you NOT love a man like that? He's been such a great support in my life. :)

So. Since my regular blog I'd like to keep separate, and I want to buy stuff from  the egl com sales, I figured I'd track my Lolita lifestyle here. :) I've already joined a meetup group and can't wait to get all dressed up!
